This is an Information Technology Operations-based role that supports our Buffalo Stamping Plant. As a member of the Plant I.T. team, you will interface and support the IT Infrastructure & Applications that the plant uses to produce these exhilarating vehicles.

You will also lend your knowledge and experiences to support process improvement efforts toward flexible and lean manufacturing, error-proofing, and manufacturing execution systems within the facility.

The successful candidate will be working with a global team to provide support that includes technical troubleshooting, data analysis & problem resolution for the applications & infrastructure on the plant floor and lead various efforts to ensure all responsible manufacturing applications meet Ford’s productivity goals.

The Plant IT Engineer leads a team of 3 to implement, run, maintain, and troubleshoot IT applications at the plant to ensure maximum contribution to productivity, quality and responsiveness to support stamping production.

What You'll Do…

The Plant IT Engineer has the responsibility of implementing, maintaining, programming, and troubleshooting IT applications in the plant to ensure maximum contribution to productivity, quality, and responsiveness.

The Plant IT Engineer also facilitates the implementation of IT systems in the plant to support process improvement efforts toward flexible and lean manufacturing, error-proofing, and manufacturing execution systems. This position provides an excellent opportunity both to apply IT skills to manufacturing and to acquire manufacturing experience that will enhance long-term career potential.

Provide technical support for IT Applications, Network, and Server Infrastructure; i.e. Plant Floor Systems Applications – Ontrack, JEDI, AGV, and Hardware - Dynics DXD, x86 Servers (Windows), Cisco Routers, Access Points and Switches, etc.

The Plant IT Engineer is an OPCOMM member of Buffalo Stamping Plant and interfaces with the Plant’s other business departments. He/she works closely with the Site IT Manager (who is not onsite most of the time) to lead the Buffalo Plant IT team’s daily operations. This is an excellent opportunity to gain leadership skills.

You'll Have…

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related

  • 5+ years experience in Information Technology in a manufacturing environment (preferred)

  • 3+ years experience with Cisco Networking, Office automation, Windows, PCs and/or Printers

  • 1+ years experience as a team lead or supervisor

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task; managing multiple tasks

Even Better You'll Have…

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment

  • Management or supervisory experience is highly preferred.

  • Any plant floor automation experience is highly desired (Control systems, PLC’s, etc.)

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Willingness to work in a high-pressure production support environment highly preferred

  • Understanding of computer-based tools like Cisco Infrastructure, and Microsoft Suite 365

  • Knowledge of Windows server and Windows Active Directory

  • Experience identifying, investigating & solving problems without supervision

  • Ability to communicate effectively with business users and IT professionals including globally distributed teams.

  • Motivated and self-starter

  • Ability to communicate effectively with business users and IT professionals including globally distributed teams; the ability to adjust communications appropriately for the audience; work with all levels of management and diverse work groups
