This is a HYBRID position, and we prefer candidates able to work hybrid from our Dearborn, MI office.

We are building a team of the world’s best aerodynamicists, and test engineers who will develop the most advanced tools and methods in CFD, Wind Tunnel Testing and property development. This team will be turned loose to create insanely great tools, methods and facilities to create insanely great vehicles. These changes in our business will allow us the greatest opportunity to create value, serve customers and develop advanced technologies since Henry Ford scaled the Model T.

What you'll do...

  • Leveraging your deep understanding of CFD and partnering with the aero program engineer to develop all aspects of the vehicle exterior and underhood components to achieve the best aerodynamics possible

  • Leveraging CFD model build expertise to support the aerodynamics team and vehicle program delivery

  • Preparing data, reports and presentations to support program teams and CFD teams

  • Continuously improving and developing new scripts utilized by the aero team for pre- and post-processing and databasing

  • Helping to develop best practices, new tools and techniques for various external aero CFD, panel loading, etc. cases for internal and external customers

  • Identifying and implementing innovation towards improving process efficiency, agility, quality and data clarity

  • Operating as the global aero script SPOC, including working closely with global teams to identify and improve aero CFD workflows

  • Occasional travel to support wind tunnel testing

You'll have...

  • BS in Aerodynamics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related field inclusive of Fluid Dynamics or Thermodynamics.

  • MS in Computer Science or related field

  • 3+ years of experience with use of external aerodynamics CFD and building CAD models, aerodynamic data analysis and/or aerodynamic design development.

  • 3+ years of software development with Python and C++ / C#

  • 2+ years of experience developing APIs

  • 2+ years of work with database development and utilization

  • Self-directed, confident and resilient individual with excellent interpersonal communication skills.

  • Excellent work planning, issue resolution skills

Even better, you may have...

  • MS in aerospace/aeronautical engineering

  • 5+ years of experience with CFD methods development

  • Experience with high volume, high utilization HPC environment and architectures

  • Great understanding of fluid dynamics, bluff body flows and standard aerodynamic targets.

  • Detailed knowledge of geometry creation, simplification, and data management within CAD software, preferably CATIA.

  • Understanding of visualization tools and libraries

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity requirements and best practices

  • Knowledge in machine learning and AI

  • A track record of success with interpersonal in challenging, cross-functional environments.

This position is a range of salary grade 8 .
