In this position...

The Body Structural System organization is a dynamic and growing team committed to delivering the best fuel economy/efficiency and refined Battery Electric vehicle in every segment in which we compete. This person will work collaboratively with many groups within the Body Structural System Engineering organization.

We are looking for a strong mechanical engineer with extensive experience in casting, sheet metal, aluminum extrusions component design as well as joining methods. This individual will be responsible for taking EV battery enclosure from design to launch. Additionally, this person will partner with battery unit team and other component teams to package battery internal components as well as the vehicle team to develop the optimal vehicle package solution for the battery.

This individual will also develop quality documents to support the built to print supplier, sourcing, managing supplier. Responsible for quality, cost, weight and functional attributes, kick-off prototype & production tooling. Deliver prototype builds, PPAP & production launch on time with quality.

What you'll do...

Design & Release enclosure and structure, cold plate, seals for electric vehicle battery packs.

Manage supply base.

Support all design phase deliverables from initial concept to launch.

Work with supplier manufacturing, STA and quality teams to ensure design for assembly feasibility.

Develop & maintain quality documents DFMEA, SCCAF, P-diagram etc.

Support on time delivery of prototype & production builds, DV/PV testing, launch.

Lead Battery structure OPD & SREA changes.

Strong GDT knowledge, create & run stack-ups, review DVA.

Manage supplier (Cost, timing, product and manufacturing changes).

Lead on time resolution of AIMS identify ICA/PCA plan and 8D workstreams.

You'll have...

B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.

2 years of hands-on experience manufacturing and developing metal components and structures.

2 years in using CAD/CAE tools and ability to optimize tool designs for stamping, welding and sheet metal, extrusions, castings.

Even better, you may have...

M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or complimentary disciplines highly desired.

5+ years of hands-on experience preferred.

1+ years engineering experience in battery system design, usage, controls, testing, and system interactions for electrified vehicles.

Aluminum casting, sheet metal joining experience (MIG, SPR, Laser weld, spot welding).

PPAP launch experience.

Record of innovation through invention disclosures, patents, and technical publications.

Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Proficient computer skills.

This position is a range of salary grades SG5-SG8 .
