Ford Motor Company Global Thermal Systems CFD Analyst in Dearborn, Michigan
Our team is responsible for analyzing the vehicle climate system that cools and heats the vehicle cabin and battery. We also evaluate the front end airflow and sealing of the vehicle, and how that impacts the overall system performance and efficiency.

Opportunity to apply thermal fluid/modeling methodologies and analysis techniques to drive the design and development of Ford’s future electrified and internal combustion powertrains.
Collect information required to run 3D thermal/CFD analysis of the front end subsystem to drive designs that meet customer expectations while optimizing efficiency
Coordinate analysis to support front end airflow and aero efficiency signoff
Analyze front end CFD results to identify areas that require sealing or improvement
Support/work with physical testing activities to enhance model predictability, model correlation and validation
Interface with software vendors for new modeling methodology and development
Work with cross functional product development teams for both attribute and sub-system design
Capture lessons learned and support updates to requirements and specifications
Work with teams to develop new technologies related to front end airflow systems
Use front end airflow temperature results to support Cabin CAE analysis
The Minimum Requirement We Seek
BS in Mechanical engineering, Mechatronics, or related engineering field with a focus on Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics
2+ years of working with 3D CFD software such as ANSYS/Fluent, STAR-CCM+, EnSight, ANSA.
2+ years of proficiency in CAD tools such as CATIA, Teamcenter
4+ years of working experience in analysis of thermal and fluid analysis supporting product development.
Our Preferred Qualifications
Master’s in Mechanical engineering , Mechatronics or related engineering field with a focus on Thermo-fluids or heat transfer
Background with both experimental and computational fluid mechanics
Experience in Ford Product Development systems and tools
Experience in 3D Conjugate heat transfer modeling
Experience with Optimization methods
Experience in developing high fidelity models and conducting model correlations with testing
Good communication skills - both verbal and written
Strong analytical abilities including data driven problem solving
Ability to work in fast paced environment, with flexibility to adjust to changing priorities
