Ford Motor Company HPC - Systems Engineer in Dearborn, Michigan

We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated HPC/Linux Systems Engineer to join our growing team. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our HPC infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and reliability for our critical applications. This role requires a deep understanding of Linux systems administration, automation, and large-scale deployments. You will be at the heart of our technical operations, ensuring that our HPC resources are always available, performant, and secure.

What you'll do...

Design, implement, and maintain a robust and scalable HPC infrastructure on bare metal.

Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management using tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Linux systems, networking, storage, and HPC applications.

Develop and maintain documentation for infrastructure configurations and procedures.

Collaborate with software engineers and researchers to ensure seamless integration of HPC resources.

Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in HPC technologies and best practices.

You'll have...

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

3+ years of experience in Linux systems administration, preferably in an HPC environment.

Strong understanding of Linux operating systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or CentOS.

Proven experience with automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.

Extensive experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Icinga, Zabbix, Nagios, or similar.

Strong understanding of metrics collection, analysis, and visualization.

Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Even better, you may have...

Experience with containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.

Familiarity with network protocols, storage technologies (e.g., Lustre, GPFS), and HPC scheduling systems (e.g., Slurm, PBS).

Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or Bash.

Experience with cloud platforms like GCP, AWS or Azure.

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder…or all of the above? No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including:

• Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage

• Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more
