Job Description & Qualifications:
Extranet Engineering (part of Network Engineering) is seeking a skilled candidate with broad skills to help develop current and next generation extranets for Ford Motor Company. Extranet Engineering provides networking solutions to connect the company to external suppliers, business partners, and the Public Internet. To do this, we use both hardware and software methods to provide secure egress for company network traffic. Our responsibilities include specification, design, test, certify and release of these methods to meet company requirements.
The ideal candidate would be a seasoned Network Engineer using their skills to diversify the Extranet team, applying their knowledge to our problems, and learning and growing with other team members to deliver outstanding value to the company.
Ability to interact with IT Architects to solve business problems with network infrastructure including proper controls.
Ability to work collaboratively, cooperatively, and closely with technically adept and involved IT peers and their management is required.
Initiative, ability to work independently, team orientation and results orientation.
Understanding of how network technology and infrastructure can help the business achieve efficiencies.
Deep understanding of security and company policy.
Design network solutions to solve business requirements securely
Test/Certify/Release products collaboratively with other team members.
Design test methodologies to validate designs.
Document and communicate results.
5+ years of networking experience is required.
3+ years of working experience on Cisco security equipment (Cisco ASA and NGFW, Cisco route/switch, proxy) hardware.
Understanding of TCP/IP, security, QOS, routing, switching, and data center technologies.
Working experience on Cisco IOS, Cisco IOS XE,XR and NX-OS Software.
Working experience on routing protocols. OSPF, BGP Understanding of data center interconnect technologies.
5+ years Cisco ASA/NGFW experience
3+ Years VMWare/VCenter virtualization administration
3+ Years Linux and/or Windows server administration
Programming skills (scripting/powershell)
Network automation methods and practices
Understanding of Software defined networking (SDN) and infrastructure virtualization
Ability to design and document test plans and results.
