In this position...

OBD Core Calibration, Vehicle Powertrain Systems Engineering team is looking for qualified candidates to support the powertrain OBD Core Calibration section in support of Gasoline, Diesel, Electric Hybrid, & Battery Electric applications. OBD Core section works in a team environment to help deliver production ready powertrain calibrations on time with efficiency, meet regulatory requirements, and with Best in Industry high quality.

What you'll do...

  • Support OBD Core Section, who work on a broad range of OBD projects to support all technologies & programs.

  • Develop OBD Major Monitor expertise with deep & specialized knowledge of complicated systems.

  • Support OBD calibration teams to ensure that OBD deliverables are being met on time

  • Support OBD commodity calibration teams with the OBD DV sign off process with HIL/Vehicle level fault failure & healing validations.

  • Support/deliver OBD Calibration Process improvements (Calibration Direction, Calibration Release Error-proofing (APR), Self Cert Summary template, tools/scripts for processing data, etc.)

  • Develop Data Processing tools to enable efficient data processing and analyzes to ensure robust calibration and define clear MOS

  • Analyze various data sources (Development Data, Sign off data, Quality Data) to understand areas of hardware, software, or calibration concern, define root cause, and determine a solution

  • Potential to work with HIL/SIL/M-HIL/CAE team on virtual vehicle OBD DTC fault & clearing demonstrations. Continually improve process & capability.

  • Support development of enhanced Powertrain Dyno OBD processes & tools to develop OBD calibrations, without needing prototype vehicle resources. Support teams in continuous improvement of calibrations

  • Support OBD Sensitivity Validation Trips & Measures of Success to ensure final diagnostics are robust & have high quality. Participate & assist cal teams on their development trips as needed which may require travel to remote development locations.

  • Support Commodity OBD calibrators and perform vehicle testing/data processing required to calibrate OBDII features to meet all monitoring requirements including warranty improvement actions.

  • Work with SE&SE team to identify PVE DV vehicle fault demonstration errors & continually improve processes.

  • Perform and document required OBDII signoff and self-certification testing

  • Work closely with cross-functional team to deliver calibration attributes on time & with high quality and support timely resolution to all launch quality issues, involving OBD calibration or system (includes, but not limited to performing testing including laboratory testing (off hours) and on development test trips

  • Work closely with Research and Controls teams to develop new monitor improvements or emission countermeasures

  • Assist with development/testing of OBD Diagnostic Code Demonstration Methods (DVM’s)

  • Creation/management of OBDII Calibration related communications and documents

  • Support the OBD Technical Specialists & provide back-up OBD technical coverage

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BSME, BSEE, BSAE, BSE Computer Science, BS Computer Engineering)

  • 1+ years experience of P/T Calibration and or OBD Calibration, including program delivery through launch and quality feedback

  • Highly motivated to work on new ICE, HEV, Diesel, & BEV technologies

  • Self-motivated with the ability to handle multiple tasks

  • Excellent data analysis capabilities, including statistical knowledge

  • Demonstrated ability to create or invent solutions to new or changing requirements

  • Proficient with Calibration Tools, including ETAS and/or ATI

  • Valid Driver’s license required

  • Able to support travel for development testing to remote locations, as needed

  • Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills

  • Deliver OBDII calibrations in a challenging work environment

  • Strong teamwork and inter-personal skills in addition to strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills to drive resolution to complex issues

  • Fundamental understanding of combustion engine operation

  • Understanding of Worldwide OBD Regulatory Requirements

  • Understanding of basic control systems function

Even better, you may have.. .

  • 5+ years experience of OBD Calibration, including program delivery through launch and quality feedback

  • Experience analyzing Quality Data sources to understand root cause and implement a fix to address field issues

  • Prior experience in Ford Calibration or Controls

  • Prior experience in OBD or Functional Safety

  • Master of Science in Engineering

  • Mathworks and Matlab experience for analyzing engineering datasets

  • Ability to read and understand Simulink flow diagrams and C programming source code

  • Ability to write programming source code to create Data analysis scripts/tools
