The RTM-Rail, Strategy and Technology role presents an exciting opportunity, to take on a role in a critical area in our current Supply Chain climate. Apply your MP&L and Supply Chain knowledge to use as you manage our Rail providers and influence our next steps in Strategy and Technology, to improve the Transportation Network.

What you'll do...

  • Oversee the Third Party Logistics Rail Follow Up Team including Schedules, Performance and On-Time Delivery of Rail Parts.

  • Support our Rail Providers to ensure we deliver to our Plants on-time and most cost-effective method.

  • Monitor and Track On-Time Delivery Performance for Rail and Intermodal.

  • Support Daily Production Report (DPR) Meetings and Achieve Yearly Target for DPR Incidents caused by NAML Origin Providers.

  • Audit and dispute logistics provider billing discrepancies for NAML and Plant Demurrage.

  • Work with our Rail Transportation Providers (Ford Stamping, PTO Plants, Origin Distribution Centers) on Shipping to Schedule to Assembly Plants, in order to reduce Accessorial Cost including Truck Orders Not Used (TONU), Detention, Demurrage and Premium Freight.

  • Ensure we have Defined Processes and KPIs for our Rail Providers and Drive Adherence to these KPIs.

  • Interface with Transportation Purchasing (TPO) on contracts including KPIs Rail Provider Contracts.

  • Oversee the completion of Design and coordinate Holiday shutdown packages for Railroads/Customs, to avoid premium including Float Plans.

  • Interface with Transportation Supervisor/Buyers and Plant MP&L Managers, to manage logistics related issues between plants, suppliers and carriers.

  • Execute Forward Model Logistics plans in conjunction with the Lead Logistics Provider (LLP) and affected plant(s) for Rail.

  • Lead efforts to the launch of Freight Verify, which will help to standardize the visual movement of boxcar rail traffic and ETAs.

  • Lead the team through the transition from 86’ to 60’ Rail Cars

  • Lead Efforts to influence our Next Steps on Strategy and Technology, to improve NAML Operations.

  • Lead the Daily review of "B" coded premium codes for accuracy and re-assign incorrect coding that does not belong to Carrier Operations.

You'll have...

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • 3+ years experience in Rail Operations or related field

  • Manufacturing aptitude

Even better, you may have...

  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred

  • Strong supply chain, supplier performance and/or plant experience preferred.

  • Strong leadership behaviors, with a systemic process-oriented mindset.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, ability to lead cross-functional teams.

  • Strong CMMS3 knowledge.

  • Experience with CMMS3 Data/Datamart/Alteryx or other Data Analytical Tools

  • Strong understanding of MP&L (CMMS, Data Warehouse) and Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) systems.

  • Travel maybe be required to the plants, ODCs and Rail/Intermodal Ramps. Weekend work may be required on an exception basis.

  • Ability to create presentations with clear objectives that tailor your content to your audience’s interests, knowledge level and needs

This position is a range of salary grades 6 - 8.
