Stamping Engineering is a cross-functional team having the primary responsibility to support our manufacturing plants and implement the launch of new vehicle programs at plants across North America and Mexico. The Stamping Controls Engineer will have an opportunity to support and lead stamping engineering projects between controls migrations, new programs, controls architecture development, electrical controls design and standardization. The engineer will also play a role in leading innovative technology developments in manufacturing. This job will require some familiarization in controls hardware components, both Siemens & Rockwell PLCs, motion & drives, robotics, and manufacturing IT networks.

What you'll do :

  • Electrical Controls drawing review.

  • Develop and standardize end-to-end IIoT device management and deployments.

  • Work cross functionally with Manufacturing Technology Development, IT Manufacturing, OEMs, integrators, manufacturing plants, and safety.

  • Write purchase orders as requisitioner to support and project manage program deliverables.

  • Implement and document lessons learned and plan for nonrecurrences.

  • Lead stamping new programs implementation and controls migration efforts through budgetary, engineering reviews and implementation.

  • Support and enforce the use of Ford safety processes during program launches and equipment upgrades.

  • Create and support new OEM standard for Industrial Controls Automation Software Specification.

  • Support Global Digital Manufacturing Engineering’s Virtual Engineering initiatives.

  • Planned obsolescence management for Industrial Controls Systems through periodic Approved Component List assessments.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.

  • 2+ years' experience in manufacturing.

  • Good knowledge and programming of Siemens and Rockwell PLCs, HMIs, Fanuc, Kuka, and ABB robots, and Industrial Controls devices.

  • Ability to perform equipment troubleshooting, including PLC, motion drives, robot, and other automation issues.

  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 35% during peak).

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Strong Project Management skills from equipment design to plant floor implementation.

  • Familiarity with Controls Specifications and Industry Standards (NEC, NFPA, ANSI, UL98, UL508A, IEC).

  • Problem solving skills using statistics and problem-solving methodologies (6-Sigma, DMAIC, FMEA, 8D).

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
