In this position…

In this role, you will be responsible for the design and release of a Ford internal axles for NA Transit front and rear axles. You will work closely with components engineers, other systems engineers, and the vehicle program to ensure the successful development and implementation of our axle system.

What you'll do…

  • Lead the design and release of Ford's internal axle system, ensuring compliance with all relevant engineering standards and specifications.

  • Collaborate with components engineers to define and develop axle system components, including differentials, axleshafts, and wheel hubs.

  • Work with other vehicle systems engineers to integrate the axle system with other vehicle systems, such as the suspension, drivetrain, and braking systems.

  • Support the vehicle program by providing technical expertise and guidance on axle system design and performance.

  • Conduct system-level analysis and testing to ensure the performance and durability of the axle system.

  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and reports.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in axle system technology.

You'll have...

Minimum

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of system design principles and technologies.

  • Experience with CAD software and engineering simulation tools.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Even better, if you have …

Preferred

  • 3+ years of axle systems or axle components design and release experience, or 5+ years in powertrain and/or chassis design and release.

  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to axle systems.

  • Proven ability to lead and mentor junior engineers.
