In this position…

In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, and analysis of driveshafts and halfshafts for NA Transit vehicles,

What you'll do…

  • Design and develop driveshaft and halfshaft systems, including components such as shafts, joints, bearings, and seals.

  • Support FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and other simulations to optimize designs for strength, durability, NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) characteristics, and weight optimization.

  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and test reports.

  • Collaborate with other engineers and technicians within Underbody Systems Engineering and other departments to ensure smooth integration of driveshaft and halfshaft systems into vehicles.

  • Conduct and analyze test data to validate designs and identify areas for improvement.

  • Visit suppliers to ensure quality and adherence to specifications throughout the manufacturing process.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in driveshaft and halfshaft technology, including materials, manufacturing processes, and electrification.

  • Contribute to the development of new products and processes to meet evolving customer needs and regulatory requirements.

You'll have...

Minimum

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of automotive driveline systems, including powertrain integration.

  • Experience with CAD software and engineering simulation tools.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on achieving performance targets while meeting cost and weight objectives.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Even better, if you have …

Preferred

  • 3+ years of experience in driveshaft, halfshaft, or driveline systems design and development, ideally within the automotive industry.

  • Experience with driveline noise and vibration analysis, including NVH testing and mitigation strategies.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes for driveshafts and halfshafts, including forging, machining, and assembly.

  • Experience with automotive standards (SAE, ISO, etc.) and regulatory requirements.
