Ford Model E is responsible for developing the key technologies and capabilities – such as EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging and recycling – to create ground-up breakthrough electric vehicles. Thermal systems spans a diverse range of critical customer-facing attributes, hardware, and software domains. Our work keeps occupants comfortable, enables full vehicle powertrain capability, and empowers battery fast charging – in all weather conditions. We strive to balance heating/cooling performance, energy consumption, cost, reliability, NVH and packaging trade-offs through physics-driven, cross-functional engineering collaboration. We work closely with mechanical engineers, aerodynamicists, battery and powertrain experts, electrical engineers, embedded/controls engineers, and more through all phases of vehicle development. This team will be highly technical in nature and will come from engineering and data centric team environments that have had to deliver the holistic end to end engineering life cycle from ideation through design, engineering, test and ensuring efficient industrialization.

As a Technical Program Manager, you’ll use your technical expertise to wholistically drive complex problems to completion. You’ll work amongst the team to scope work, plan requirements, identify risks, estimate budgets, and clearly communicate ongoing progress. You’ll work side by side with engineers on a daily basis; your technical expertise, insight and know-how will drive the team forward.

  • Drive engineering teams towards containment and resolution of issues raised from design reviews, virtual builds, and build events to protect the program’s schedule to start of production (SOP) and ongoing production

  • Maintain supplier relationships in collaboration with Supply Chain team to ensure timely deliveries for build events

  • Collaborate with engineering teams throughout Ford to leverage existing knowledge, design practices, and validation experience

  • Monitor work outputs and deliverables for potential systems and vehicle incompatibilities and opportunities for greater integration, velocity, and collaboration.

  • Ensure problems are transparent and risks are identified and proactively ensure that risk mitigating actions are ongoing within relevant engineering teams

  • Set agenda for key decisions to be made at each meeting to eliminate bottlenecks and retire risks

  • Support key decisions working cross-functionally across engineering, finance, and strategy to reach the right conclusions

  • Support second or alternative sourcing of key thermal components/sub-systems

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of technical program management, in an engineering setting involving hardware development.

  • Detailed knowledge of product development process from design, development, validation and integration

  • Foundational background in thermal systems components and vehicle-level applications

  • Proven experience driving progress on multiple projects across multiple locations and timelines

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Requirements :

  • Experience with Confluence and Jira applications

  • An eagerness to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team

  • Undergraduate or higher Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on thermal engineering or energy systems.

  • Real-world product development experience using models and testing to design, validate and continuously improve a thermal system used by customers every day.

  • Experience with refrigeration systems (compressors, heat exchangers, valves, sensors, charge and oil management) applied to automotive products.

  • Experience with HVAC design (hardware, control strategies, energy flows within the cabin, glass properties).

  • Familiarity with battery, motor/inverter and electronics thermal/electrical systems.

  • Familiarity using 3D CAD software collaboratively (NX, Catia, 3DX).
