The Facilities Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring that a facility operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.

What you'll do...

  • Ensure that the building, structures, and systems withing the facility are properly designed, installed, maintained, and operated. This role involves a range of tasks, including managing construction projects, overseeing the maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations, and implementing energy efficiency initiatives.

  • Work closely with a variety of stakeholders, including architects, contractors, maintenance staff, and regulatory agencies. Have a strong understanding of engineering principles, building systems, and construction processes.

  • Interface with contractors/suppliers/plant personnel for building and site operations, planning, and maintenance.

  • Implement and apply standard specifications to support building utilities and foundations to support process equipment.

  • Ensure the identification and capture of lessons learned along with their application to new programs, as well as the impact to existing strategies and standards.

  • Lead simultaneous engineering meetings with Tier I suppliers to orchestrate equipment installation during program reviews with all interested parties.

  • Participate in management program reviews and represent the Facilities and Infrastructure organization in commodity discussions.

  • Define the scope of Equipment Installation and contract appropriate resources to install after reviewing bids and awarding contract.

  • Direct activities of the Installation contractor or internal trades to install and power on equipment according to the required program timing.

  • Coordinate Process requirements with Ford Land activities to ensure facilities utilities support demands.

  • Working knowledge of a diverse skill set including, air handling, contamination elimination and prevention, power distribution, foundations, etc.

  • Experience interacting with senior management, process engineering, safety, IT, and plant production teams.

  • Work with Federal, State and Local authorities, and coordinate necessary building permits and inspections.

  • Liaison with Ford Corporate Fire Protection to ensure adequate fire protection for operations to be compliant with AON Insurance Underwriters

  • Liaison with Ford Land/IFM to ensure adequate building maintenance operations are met.

  • Obtain Architectural drawings and Certified Stamped drawings as required for any non-Ford Land delivered, structural, fire protection and coordinate validation testing.

  • Maintain all facilities layouts/drawings.

  • Coordinate structural lifting device certification per Ford PTME Standards

  • Plan, prepare, organize, and oversee shutdown and maintenance activities.

  • Procure any Installation material, equipment rentals, and Infrastructure required to support project delivery and maintenance/facilities operations.

  • Coordinate and track Program Facilities Funding and maintain financial checkbook. Support as needed Program studies and financial requirements

  • Project writing for plant infrastructure improvements.

  • Manage, support, and supervise all aspects of plant building maintenance and construction activities for both UAW and outside contractors using SQDCPME principles.

  • Represent the company in daily interactions with UAW business and Labor Clearance meetings

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical or civil Engineering.

  • 3+ years of facilities engineering experience.

  • Self-starting, self-directed with extremely good influential, organizational, and people skills.

  • Comfortable with working overtime as needed to support projects.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage technical aspects of the position.

  • Strong communication and project management skills.

  • Ability to read / understand construction and installation drawings.

Even better, you may have...

  • Degree: master’s degree in mechanical or civil Engineering

  • Strong manufacturing background with heavy emphasis on production and facilities related equipment.

  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD software.

  • Experience with FMEA, DOE, DMAIC, 5D, 8D processes and problem-solving skills.

This position is a range of salary grades 6, 7 and 8.
